Keep Orange County Beautiful (KOCB) and the local chapter of AAUW (American Association of University Women) co-sponsored the event: "Putting Pines Back in Pinehurst."

WHAT:   "Putting Pines Back in Pinehurst
WHERE:   Salvation Army Building
1950 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Orange TX 77630
WHEN:   5:00 pm Thursday, March 22nd 2012

Ms. Sandra Cash, a Board member of KOCB and also Programming Chair for AAUW, put together another project to bring back some of the trees that were lost to storms in the last few years.  KOCB planted young pine trees on the property of the Salvation Army at the corner of MLK and Strickland Drive.  Mrs. Cash said, “A full grown Pine will sequester more carbon dioxide than a full grown live oak.  And that's saying a lot when you're on the corner of a very busy intersection.”

A photo op with the planted trees took place at 5pm on Thurs. March 22nd, followed by a short presentation on the "Benefits of Pine Trees" given by a Texas Forest Ranger.  A reception followed with food and beverages provided by AAUW.
